Remote desktop access

TvRMM remote desktop access provides browser-based screen view and control for supported direct agents through the authenticated TvRMM relay.

What the Remote tab means

The Remote tab shows whether a session can start, which requirements are satisfied, and which requirement is blocking access when controls are disabled.

Remote view or control requires all of the following:

  • remote access allowed by effective policy;
  • a supported direct real agent;
  • the endpoint online and licensed;
  • endpoint helper capability reported by the agent;
  • a connected TvRMM relay path;
  • user role high enough for the requested view or control mode.

If any requirement is missing, controls should stay disabled and the status message should explain the missing piece.

No exposed customer-side remote port

TvRMM uses an outbound agent relay model. Customers should not need to expose a public VNC or RDP port on managed endpoints just to use TvRMM remote access.

Common Remote tab states

StateMeaning
AvailableThe endpoint can start a remote view or control session for the current user.
View-only availableThe endpoint can be viewed, but control input is not allowed by policy, role, or helper capability.
Disabled by policyThe effective remote access policy does not allow the requested mode.
Unsupported endpoint typeThe row is not a direct real agent that can host a remote helper.
Agent offlineTvRMM cannot start a session until the endpoint checks in.
UnlicensedThe endpoint is outside the current active-agent billing limit.
Helper unavailableThe endpoint has not reported a remote desktop helper.
Relay disconnectedHelper capability exists, but the TvRMM relay is not connected.

Clipboard and file transfer

Clipboard and file transfer are policy-controlled and helper-dependent. They remain separately gated so screen control does not automatically imply data movement.

Support guidance

When asking support about remote access, include the endpoint name, operating system, last heartbeat time, Remote tab status, and whether the workflow is view-only or control.
