Agent installation

Bootstrap commands are enrollment-specific. Generate a fresh command from the portal whenever you install a new endpoint, host, or guest-managed direct agent.

Install options​

Windows x64 / ARM64​

Install the service agent from the Windows bootstrap command shown in the portal. Run it with administrative authority on the target endpoint and confirm the endpoint checks in before running actions.

macOS Intel / Apple Silicon​

Install the Darwin direct agent package for endpoint audit and command flows where implemented.

Linux and BSD hosts​

Use the matching bootstrap for Generic Linux, named Linux distributions, or FreeBSD amd64. Package manager behavior varies by distribution and repository state.

Proxmox VE hosts​

Use the Proxmox VE bootstrap when installing on a real PVE host. TvRMM can report host inventory and VM/container inventory where supported.

Unraid hosts​

Use the Unraid bootstrap on Unraid hosts. Unraid OS, plugin, Docker image, and VM lifecycle actions remain Unraid-native unless TvRMM explicitly supports the workflow.

Guest agents​

Installing a direct agent inside a VM, container, or desktop guest is separate from inventory reported by a host. Treat the in-guest agent and the inventory row as the same workload only when you know they represent the same system.

When the host already reports a guest row, install the regular agent inside the guest OS, wait for the new direct agent row to check in, then link the host-observed guest to that agent from the guest context if you want the portal to keep the relationship visible. Before running the command​

  • Confirm the tenant and organization in the portal.
  • Choose the platform-specific bootstrap, especially for Proxmox VE and Unraid hosts.
  • Use administrator, root, or equivalent install authority on the endpoint.
  • Wait for the first heartbeat and audit before relying on patch, script, terminal, reboot, or homelab controls.
